Saturday 31st December
As 2011 comes to an end, Elizabeth's Cake Emporium will like to wish everyone an amazing 2012 filled with every blessing. 2011 was a great year for us, and some of the highlights included TV appearances, our cakes appearing in national and international publications and numerous blogs and being nominated for an award.
A particular favourite was being invited to one of the best bakeries in Italy to teach and help set up a cupcake business. Being regarded as experts in the field was actually quite humbling.
However, most important for us has been the faith our wonderful clients placed in us to create memorable, one of a kind cakes for their special occasions. We are truly grateful for being chosen out of a vast number of suppliers but clients have commented again and again on the quality and detail of our work, some not quite believing their eyes when they see their cake.
The success of Elizabeth's Cake Emporium has been down to one thing in particular - our passion to keep doing cakes that taste as beautiful as they look. We keep challenging ourselves to do something unique to every client, so that no two cakes are the same.
We have great plans for 2012, and signs are that some of these are already happening, so watch this space!
Have lovely New Year and we look forward to hearing from you in 2012!
Friday 23rd December
Elizabeth's Cake Emporium will like to wish all our
dear clients past and present a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you so much for your patronage and support throughout
the year. It's been an honour and privilege for us to make
your cakes and each one has been made with the utmost
care and love.
A typical note from one of our brides reads:
"Dear Elizabeth
We have now returned from honeymoon and would like to say a big thank
you for the absolutely beautiful and delicious cake you so carefully made
and set up for us at St Michael's Manor. It was
perfect! You really did an excellent job.
Even the chef at St Michael's Manor was asking about you and mentioned that
it was one of the best
cakes he has seen. Here are a few photos of the big day.
We were wondering whether you would be able to make us a small vanilla
ripple tier for Christmas with
the monogram and similar champagne icing with white piping?
Many thanks again.
Kind regards,
Charlotte and Lloyd"
The photos below show how beautiful and happy the couple were on their big day and
we wish them a lifetimeof happiness, love and joy!

In recognition of our expertise and innovative approach to wedding cake design, we had the honour of being approached by Sessa Pasticceria of Naples, Italy for a collaboration last month.
The idea was that our companies should join forces to develop a specific range of products for the Italian wedding market, combining traditional Italian flavours with some of the best cake decorating techniques in the world.
Gaetano Sessa, the CEO of Sessa Pasticceria approached us after seeing Wedding TV's The Great Cake Bake on Sky TV. He was delighted that his kind invitation was accepted as he is a great admirer of the art and skill that goes into each cake produced by Elizabeth's Cake Emporium.
We were thrilled to collaborate with Sessa and the new partnership fits in perfectly with our expansion strategy. We look forward to showcasing the new range of products, as Sessa produces some of the best pastries in the region and the flavours are truly magnificent.
Naples (Napoli) is a really beautiful city and Mount Vesuvius is a sight to behold. The food is absolutely delicious and the only downside has been that now we know what authentic Italian cuisine should taste like, we've not been able to eat pasta or pizza since our return to the UK!
Monday 26th September
Elizabeth's Cake Emporium would like to say a big thank you to everyone who visited our stand at the Luxury Wedding Show yesterday. We showcased our new range of luxury cakes fit for a queen and our stand attracted a LOT of praise and attention.
The 'star' of our stand was our one of a kind 'Chandelier Cake'. Standing over 4 feet tall and inspired by the wedding cake from the movie 'Sex and the City 2, elements of the cake took several weeks to complete and we used over 10,000 crystals in the execution of the design. It drew several gasps of admiration from so many brides and it was very gratifying to know that all the work that went into making the cake was appreciated.
Another much admired cake was our very tall 6 tiered ivory cake with sugar flowers. It had very realistic and botanically correct sugar roses, calla lilies, hydrangeas, parrot tulips, assorted sugar greenery and sugar butterflies cascading round it. A number of visitors could not believe that the flowers were not fresh and some people had a sneaky feel to confirm that they were indeed made of sugar.
Best of all, the talking point was the quality of our cakes. From previous experience, we actually brought more samples with us this time, yet we actually ran out of them before the end of the exhibition. There was a general consensus that we had the best tasting cakes at the show with many brides coming back to thank us. Out of the dozen of cakes flavours, the most popular were Bailey's, triple chocolate, Champagne and Strawberries, Vanilla, white chocolate and lemon.

Sometimes, certain things are just meant to be. After a busy past few weeks at Elizabeth's Cake Emporium, I was thinking about how nice it would be to make an old school type cake.
Specifically, I had a basket weave cake in mind but I kept thinking of how I could give it a modern twist. By sheer coincidence, I had a lovely client contact me specifically to request a cake with lots of botanically correct sugar flowers for her mother's 70th birthday party. The reason she came to us was because she was very impressed with our sugar flowers and she felt confident that we would do a great job (no pressure then!).
In turn, as her mother used to work at Kew Gardens, she has an expert knowledge of how her favourite flowers should look and her expectations were also high.
We set to work in creating a white wicker basket of flowers with an arrangement that included sugar roses, hydrangeas, freesias, lilies, three types of orchids, assorted greenery and even sugar butterflies. Each flower was gently put in place as anyone who knows how fragile sugar flowers are can understand.
The client's reaction to the cake when she came with her husband to pick it up was amazing. But better still on the day after the party, I received this note which made it all worthwhile :0)

Hi Elizabeth
I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing cake. My Mum was delighted with it and all the guests were really impressed. It looked fantastic and tasted delicious. It really helped make the party a success. A true work of art - I really appreciate it.
Best wishes, Sarah

Over six months ago, Elizabeth's Cake Emporium was contacted by a gorgeous bride who had her heart set on us making for her the exact replica of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's wedding cake. We were delighted to accept the challenge and what we created certainly did not disappoint.
A five tier cake encrusted with perfectly round and shimmering sugar pearls; each tier was surrounded by really beautiful sugar roses that drew gasps of admiration from everyone at the venue. The cake flavours included triple chocolate, delicious carrot, good old fashioned caramel and French Vanilla bean.
The venue, the Royal Exchange in Bank, City of London was absolutely stunning and the cake looked right at home in such a setting.

Friday 12th August

This summer has been quite busy for us at Elizabeth's Cake Emporium. Not only are we involved in exciting projects, we've also had so many fabulous brides come to us for that something special.
I keep getting told by my very discerning brides that they want a one of a kind wedding cake that's unique to them. One of my favourites has been this unusual four tier stripped wedding cake. Each tier is surrounded by masses of the most beautifully crafted sugar flowers including roses, hydrangeas, blossoms, stephanotis, berries and sweet peas.
The sugar flowers were individually hand cut and dusted to look as natural as possible. It was a huge hit at the reception and everyone agreed that it tasted just as good as it looked.
Watch this space for more gorgeous cakes!

By very popular demand I am very excited to announce that we've now started giving cake decorating classes at Elizabeth's Cake Emporium http://www.elizabethscakeemporium.com/classes.
The first class sold out within a few hours and we are taking bookings for the other classes.
I was very fortunate to have the most amazing students who travelled from far and wide and I will be posting pictures of their work very soon, so please watch this space.

Variety, they say is the spice of life. I absolutely adore making cakes that are unique and different. Although this is more work than churning out the same old designs (I have nothing against this as after all it is less hassle!) and involves some risk, I find that it's a great way of being stretched and giving clients something truly memorable.
We recently created a very tall three tier gold and cream scroll cake with leaves based on the design of Ravi and Sunita's wedding rings. Sunita the bride is very creative and wanted a cake that was very personal and reflected both their tastes.
They decided to go with three different flavours for each tier as they both adored our luscious lemon cake, triple chocolate cake and old fashioned caramel cake.
Sugar scrolls are quite difficult to make as they need to be perfectly rounded and even. They also need to be painted and a number of coats of gold was used in order to get an even sheen. The cake was finally topped with sugar roses, gold berries and leaves.
It was a joy to make and it was displayed in the middle of the room perfectly. All in all a great result!
Wednesday 6th July

I love it when a client places their trust in us to create something special. The cake was our famous triple chocolate delight and in order to achieve the required height and dimensions, we baked several square cake layers.
Several hours were spent on carving the cake and making the various grasses using four different shades of green.
To achieve the leathery Rhino skin colour and texture, we mixed several colours including black and brown and used a number of texturisers.
The day after the party, I got a call from the client and her little boy who told me that he and his friends kept poking the Rhino as it looked so real!
Saturday 19th February
Elizabeth's Cake Emporium will once again be exhibiting at the Luxury Wedding Show, The Grove, Hertfordshire, Chandler's Cross, Hertfordshire, WD3 4TG, on Sunday 27th February 2011. Doors open at 11:00am until 4:30pm.
I will be showcasing new cake designs and will be looking forward to speaking with visitors and journalists about our bespoke cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and cookies. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to explore a number of cake design possibilities with me.
I will also be giving away great tasting and beautifully designed complimentary cupcakes in a variety of flavours, including Toffee Nut Latte and exquisite White Chocolate Delight.
Meeting new brides and bridegrooms in a very relaxed and informal setting of a wedding show is great and seeing their reaction to the look and taste of our products is most rewarding. Also, other exhibitors tend to be very friendly and helpful and I am really excited about making new friends.
Tuesday 18th January
I am still recovering from a very busy weekend which included the exhibition at the Luxury Wedding Show at the five star Landmark Hotel.
I met a number of amazing vendors, including the amazing couturiers Suzie Turner Couture and Onitaa.
My stand drew a lot of admiring glances and attention, with many visitors bringing people over to either have a look at the cakes and/or take photographs. I also had the opportunity to speak with a number of brides and I must say that some of the ideas they had in mind for their wedding cakes were amazing!
I got LOTS of compliments over the taste of the cakes which was very gratifying.
The events team at The Landmark were excellent, making sure that I have everything I needed. I would like to thank the brides who attended the event for the purpose of having a consultation with me. I very much look forward to bringing your ideas to life.
The Luxury Wedding Show was an incredible start to the year for Elizabeth's Cake Emporium and once the images from the show are ready, I will post them.
